Storm Shortlisted for Tech Excellence Award

The Tech Excellence Awards recognise companies in Ireland’s technology industry that have successfully implemented technology that has delivered a positive business impact for clients. Storm Technology is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted for the Tech Excellence Private Sector Project of the Year Award. The shortlisting has come following a successful digital transformation project led by Storm for Windsor Motor Group.
Established in 1964, Windsor Motor Group operates in the Irish motor distribution industry, specialising in supplying high-quality affordable new and used vehicles, while delivering customer service excellence. A key business process for Windsor, vehicle appraisals are involved in over 90% of sales. However, this process typically involved customers travelling to their nearest Windsor branch to receive a vehicle appraisal, which was quite a manual, paper-based process that proved time-consuming for both employees and customers alike.
In 2024, Windsor partnered with Storm with the goal of transforming this process through a digital transformation project. A vehicle appraisal app was built using Power Platform, Microsoft’s low-code solution development platform. The app enables customers to remotely appraise their vehicles by uploading images and essential vehicle information that is then fed across to Windsors customer relationship management (CRM) system. Shortly after the rollout of the app, marketing automation solution, D365 Customer Insights was integrated with the CRM system, unlocking a holistic view of customer journeys and allowing Windsor to create bespoke campaigns and communications while facilitating workflow automation with low-code automation solution, Power Automate.
The solution has enabled Windsor to transform the vehicle appraisal process from a time-consuming paper-based process to a fully digitised process, enhancing both internal efficiency and the customer experience. The process is now fully standardised across Windsor’s 11 branches across Ireland with customers able to carry out self-serve appraisals remotely, delivering significant time savings to both customers and staff. Enhanced customer segmentation abilities provided by D365 Customer Insights now allow Windsor to create targeted campaigns based on attributes such as vehicle model or lifecycle, with Power Automate then automating bespoke communications based on these attributes. The digital transformation project has modernised the entire vehicle appraisal process, allowing Windsor to reduce its reliance on manual processes and unlock new levels of efficiency while continuing to deliver the highest quality service to customers.
